SPRING BREAK CAMP
Serves: 50 children, ages 3-15 years old.
Program: Began in 2003 in partnership with the Pensacola First United Methodist Church's Bishops' Initiative on Children and Poverty Task Force.
Provides: Nutritious lunch and snacks each day (Florida Impact); provides a safe, nurturing place for children when they are out of school.
Activities Include: A spiritual focus each day with Scripture, music, crafts, and fellowship. In addition, we have character building workshops to deal with issues of anger management, conflict resolution, drug prevention, etc, and special arts, dance, and sports activities.
Outcomes: Decreases unethical, destructive, anti-social, and illegal behaviors; improves team dynamics.
Goals: Expanded to full day, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) participation.
